All,

I have a 2.4 MB AVI made with the IV50 codec that won't run properly in PPT.

It is in the same folder as the presentation file, and the filename is only

27 characters long. GSpot reports that I have the IV50 codec installed, and

the clip works fine using WMP and in MCI when run from the command line

(thanks for the great tutorial Austin!) . I inserted the AVI into a slide

using Insert > Movies & Sounds > Movie from File, but when I right-click and

choose Play Movie, or start the slide show and click on the image to start

the movie, I see the first frame, then all I get is a solid black panel over

the image area for the duration of the movie run, then I get the first frame

back.

Any ideas?

Bill

    • I found this on http://www.pfcmedia.com/Tutorial.htm:

I get a black screen with no video: This is usually caused by having too

long of a path to the video. Move the presentation and video to a folder

with a shorter path. Example: "C:\test".

Give it a go and let us know how you get on.

    • Two things, first I would try turning video hardware acceleration down, and

I would look to see if there is a updated driver for your video card.

    • Austin,

Good ideas both, but this is my work computer and the IT Nazis won't let me

have the privileges I need to either update the driver or change the hardware

accel settings. Luckily, I'm due for a tech refresh soon anyway....
